As part of Mid-Lakes Christian Church's ongoing commitment to reach as many people with the gospel as possible, we established the Adventure Christian Academy, which opened in the fall of 2004. This school uses the buildings and facilities at our new church location, 3800 State Road 19, Tavares, Fl. To make the school 100% self-sufficient, we operate the Adventure Thrift Center, located in Tavares at 1270 South Duncan Drive (S.R. 19), just north of Woodlea Road. The Thrift Center is staffed entirely by volunteers from Mid-Lakes, and is open 10 to 3 Tuesday through Saturday. The store has over 3,200 square feet and sells good used furniture, appliances, clothing and other quality second-hand items. If you have items you'd like to donate to the store, bring them along with you when you come to shop--or if you need pick-up service, feel free to call us at 343-6800.

Quality Education
Adventure Christian Academy is committed to excellence in education. Students receive the very finest scholastic education while getting instruction in ethics and morals as taught by the Bible. We teach in a manner that prepares our students for college, teaching foreign language, geography and math at the earliest grade levels.

We teach a Christian worldview. Students will learn to analyze what is going on in society. They will be able to make their own decisions based on the Bible on what is right and wrong from learning Judeo-Christian morals, rather than being led along by the views of others. Some of our mottos are:

Excellence in Education
A Christian Worldview
Changing the World, One Life at a Time

Curriculum
We use the very best from the ABeka curriculum. It is a time-tested Christian approach to learning that has been around for about 50 years. We also incorporate a somewhat newer curriculum, about 20 years old, called The Principle Approach. This unique and challenging curriculum, called the best in the nation by George Barna, well-known Christian author and pollster, fosters learning that applies to life. Amazingly, it works extremely well for either advanced or slower students as it teaches the “Christian idea of the child”- that each person is unique and has something of great worth to offer.

Classes Offered
This 2005-2006 school year our school board has been aggressive in adding grade levels. Last year, in 2004-2005 Adventure Christian Academy offered only K4 and K5.
This year we offer K3 - 6th grade. We are committed to adding at least one grade level per year in the future through High School.

Special Classes or Instruction-
Classes are held in art, music, the French language, physical education and computers to round out the education of the students at Adventure Christian Academy. Private instruction in piano may be obtained by calling 352-742-4543
or 352-589-2804.
Weekly chapel services are held, also with messages from the Mid-Lakes Christian Church staff or other special speakers.

Web Cams-
Adventure Christian Academy offers a wonderful perk to the parents or guardians of our students: a private password for access to a web cam located in each classroom. Each parent who requests it will receive web cam access to the class or classes of their children. By offering this, parents have the added security of viewing what is happening in their child’s class throughout the day.

In addition, we are seeking to develop a tuition assistance program in the future through Mid-Lakes Christian Church for families who can demonstrate a financial need for help on the monthly payments, but not for use on enrollment and book fees.

In some cases of financial need, the monthly tuition may be partially paid by work done for the school. Since our school’s employment opportunities are limited, get such a request to the school office as soon as possible.
