Reasons for Daily Devotions
The Today’s Devotion on the website may help spur your thoughts toward God before a time of personal reflection and prayer. Many people develop a prayer list or a prayer journal to keep their thoughts focused as they pray.

Reasons for Daily Bible Reading
The Word of God is like spiritual food to us. Just as the body is weakened without food, the Christian’s spiritual life is made weak without taking in God’s Word. We have included a suggested schedule of daily Bible readings with each daily devotional thought. The readings usually correlate to the thought for the day. The goal of this section of our website is consistent reading of the entire Bible within one year.

Choose a Time and Place
If you choose to use our schedule of daily Bible readings, most people find the best success by choosing a certain time of the day to do it. A daily appointment is made – such as always at 10 PM before retiring for bed, or always at 6 AM on rising. If the suggested Bible readings are begun on January 1st and continued throughout the year, by December 31st the whole Bible will be completed. It is a real blessing to read every word of God’s book each calendar year and it is surprising easy. You will read approximately 3 pages in the Bible per day, alternating from an Old Testament book to a New Testament book to make the reading stay fresher. It takes most people about 15 minutes a day to accomplish this, so it is not a large commitment of time for the great blessing you will receive.

Consider Finding a Reading Partner
You may want to find a partner to make the same commitment to read through the Bible in a year. Then set a weekly time to share what blessings you received from the recent readings. It could be in person, by phone, or email. It helps to be accountable to someone and you get the added blessing of their insights. “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17
